Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree
How lovey are thy branches
Christmas is such a special time at Walt Disney World. Holiday sights, sounds and smells fill the air; cheerfulness is all around. There are seasonal events, foods and entertainment at all four parks and even the resorts get in on the action. Where would you want to spend your holidays?
Animal Kingdom
This park may be last on the list of most decorated park for Christmas but its first when it comes to winter decorations. There may be fewer holiday offerings but they are still quality. Merry Merengue’s artist styled puppets can be found playing on Discovery Island in their arctic best. Along Discovery River, you can be entertained by the Holiday Drummers on their Festive Flotilla. Santa Claus is known to float on by as well! Even The Tree of Life gets a festive look with the Tree of Life Awakening – Holiday Edition with themed projections with musical accompaniment.
Hollywood Studios
The classic old Hollywood charm carries over to the holiday decorations on Hollywood Blvd and even over to Toy Story Land. Don’t miss Gertie in Echo Lake wearing her holiday best. Looking for a good meal? Then don’t miss seasonal dining with Minnie at Hollywood and Vine. Or catch a festive take on For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration. Looking for the big man in red? Santa can be found traveling down Hollywood Blvd in his motorcade. After the sun goes down, catch the holiday projections on Hollywood Tower Hotel nightly.
Epcot
Home to World Showcase, EPCOT comes alive with seasonal entertainment and holiday storytellers from around the world. In addition to the entertainment, the festival booths come alive with the International Festival of the Holidays beginning on November 25, 2022 bringing seasonal sights, sounds and flavors. Returning is another favorite; Candlelight Processional. Celebrity narrators tell the story of Christmas accompanied by an orchestra and choir. While the classics are returning, there is something new to be enjoyed this year. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. This amazing attraction will get an all new seasonal mashup of epic proportion to brighten up the season.
Magic Kingdom
The highlight of the holiday season at Walt Disney World lies at Magic Kingdom. Starting with the larger than life Christmas tree in the center of Main Street, the decorations continue with festive wreaths with all the trimmings. Also available are holiday themed snacks and beverages. Yummy! Like the other parks, seasonal projections light up the night on Cinderella’s Castle. The crown jewel however, is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. This special ticket event is a celebration of all things Christmas with fireworks, parades, live entertainment and, my personal favorite, cookies! I’ll go into further detail on this event in an upcoming post.
Disney Springs
Even this shopping, dining and entertainment complex gets in on the decorations. The Disney Springs Christmas Tree Stroll is a collection of well appointed trees that will make you envious and have you rethinking your decorations at home. The trees aren’t the only beautiful scenes. During the evenings, “snow” can be expected at Disney Springs Town Center. The entertainment continues with live holiday music and Toy Solider Stilt Walkers. For a family friendly dining experience, Jock Lindsey’s Hanger Bar becomes Jock Lindsey’s Holiday Bar with a holiday theme added to the menu.
Resorts
The festivities aren’t restricted to just the parks. Depending on where you stay, you can expect holiday decorations, trees, and gingerbread displays. For example, at the Grand Floridian, you can even order gingerbread and other sweet treats… wait for it… from a life-size gingerbread house!
Have you had the chance to experience the holiday season at Walt Disney World yet? What was your favorite or what are you looking forward to seeing the most?
