Happy Birthday to the iconic Mickey Mouse who’s debut was today in 1928 in the short film “Steamboat Willie”. Today at noon in Magic Kingdom, you can find a very special Hidden Mickey! As you enter the indoor portion of the queue for Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid, light will seep through the ceiling carving and cast a Mickey head along the wall. Those Imagineers think of everything!

Prince Charming Regal Carrousel, built in 1917, is older than Magic Kingdom. By 50 years! Don’t let it’s age fool you, 90 of the hand carved wooden horses are still original. Do you have a favorite you like to ride?

In the queue for Haunted Mansion, you’ll walk past the Dread families tombstones, the murderous prior owners of the mansion. Each tombstone holds clues to who murdered who. Have you figured out the murder mystery?

Let’s get spooky! The bones on opening day for Pirates of the Caribbean in Disneyland were the real deal! Bone creating technology wasn’t where it needed to be so Disney went straight to UCLA for skeletons to fill the attraction. Although Disney has said there are no longer any real bones, rumors continue to swirl.

Beautiful to Frightfully Fall.

There is so much work that goes into transforming Walt Disney World from its beautiful self to full Halloween. There are the pumpkins, wreaths, garland and all the trimmings to decorate. But did you know, all this happens in one night! And I can’t even get my act together in a week for a lot less acreage…

While there are plenty of American flags flying on Main Street in Magic Kingdom, only one is the read deal. All of the others were designed with incorrect amount of stars and stripes so they don’t have to adhere to the strict national code of conduct.

Bonus: A flag from Ground Zero resides in the American Pavilion in EPCOT.

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

  • Set inside the Hollywood Tower Hotel
  • A few unlucky guests are in the elevator when the hotel is struck by lightning, transporting them to the Twilight Zone.
  • While the drops may feel like a freewill, they are actually controlled causing you to drop faster than gravity.

Let’s start with the iconic Cinderella’s Castle at Walt Disney World. While she is looks imposing, she is only 189 ft tall! The bricks on the castle get progressively smaller to give the illusion that the castle is taller than she looks.
