Yes, you read that right—Splash Mountain is getting a MAJOR makeover! After over three decades of making us sing “Zip-a-dee-doo-dah” and soaking us with its famous five-story drop, Splash Mountain will officially be replaced with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure—and it’s going to be pure magic.

Walt Disney himself said, “Progress is impossible without change,” and Disney is always looking ahead, making sure its parks stay fresh and exciting. This is why the time has come for Splash Mountain to step aside and make room for something new, but still just as exciting—Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which will officially open in 2024 at Walt Disney World and 2025 at Disneyland!

The History of Splash Mountain

Let’s take a moment to remember the classic. Splash Mountain first splashed onto the scene July 17, 1989, at Disneyland in California. Inspired by the film Song of the South (which, let’s just say, doesn’t quite hold up in today’s world), it quickly became a fan favorite. Guests flocked to Critter Country to join Br’er Rabbit on his journey to find his laughing place and try to avoid getting caught by Br’er Fox and Br’er Bear.

And, of course, we all got completely drenched on that infamous 5-story drop—whether we wanted to or not! The ride was so popular, it expanded to Walt Disney World in 1992, and later to Tokyo Disneyland, where it continued to be a classic log-flume adventure, beloved by Disney fans for decades.

But now, it’s time for Disney to move on to a new chapter—and I’m here for it!
